The journey home starts TODAY.

In Astrology, Chiron is known as the "wounded healer." This celestial body is referred to as a comet, asteroid, or planetoid, and its orbit is irregular and unpredictable. Chiron is believed to represent our deepest emotional wounds and the lessons that come from healing them. It symbolizes the pain and suffering we endure in our lives.

However, Chiron also represents our ability to transcend that pain and become a stronger version of ourselves. In this sense, Chiron represents the notion that through adversity, we can attain wisdom, compassion, and the ability to heal others.

One of the most beautiful and intricate aspects of the human experience is our ability to HEAL + GROW from emotional pain.

This is the essence of the Chiron wound. Like the mythical centaur, we all carry wounds, but it is through acknowledging and processing them that we can develop greater empathy, resilience, and the ability to help others. The path to healing can be long and difficult, but it is a journey worth taking.

The Myth of Chiron

Chiron was a centaur in Greek mythology who was known for his wisdom and healing abilities. The story of Chiron begins with his birth. He was the son of the Titan Cronus and the Oceanid Philyra. When Cronus discovered that his wife, Rhea, was pregnant, he feared that one of his children would overthrow him, as he had overthrown his own father. To prevent this, he devoured each of his children as they were born. However, when Philyra gave birth to Chiron, she was so horrified by his appearance that she begged the gods to transform her into a tree. Cronus was unable to devour Chiron, who was thus allowed to live.

Chiron grew up to become a wise and respected centaur. He was known for his healing abilities and became a mentor to many young heroes, including Achilles and Jason. However, he could not heal himself. According to the myth, Chiron was accidentally wounded by an arrow coated in the venom of the Hydra. He was immortal, so he could not die, but the wound caused him constant pain.

The Message of the Hummingbird

A TRUE STORY

I’d just finished the first call with Susan Hyatt and a dozen amazing women joining me on the BARE Coaching Certification journey. My husband and I had sat down to eat our lunch when we heard a thud on the sliding glass door. We knew that sound, and it wasn’t a good one. A beautiful Anna’s Hummingbird lay on the deck, unmoving. Unfortunately, this small bird had not merely been stunned by the crash; it had not survived.

Unnerved, I was certain this event could not be a good omen, so I was surprised by what I found when I looked up the symbolism of a dead hummingbird. According to the website Symbolism and Metaphor, a deceased hummingbird is “a sign that change and renewal is coming your way.” It reminds us to let go of the past, to be ready for the transformation ahead, and to commit to a project or person with love, focusing on pleasure and rest throughout the journey.

Wow. I was stunned. The message could not have been clearer: let go of the past and embrace the transformation ahead with an open and dedicated heart. Just like the hummingbird, it’s time to let go of old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve me and embrace the beauty and possibility of the present moment.

I couldn't help but think about how this experience relates to my future work as a BARE coach. Helping others let go of their emotional baggage and transform their lives is at the heart of what I do. Like the hummingbird, my clients are going through a transformational process of shedding their old beliefs and behavior patterns and embracing a new way of living.

As I finished my lunch, I felt a sense of peace and clarity wash over me. The dead hummingbird was a reminder that transformation is possible and that letting go of the past is the first step toward healing.

I didn’t realize how this related to my Chiron wound until the following day when I felt compelled to write a blog post on Chiron. I sat there, reflecting on the significance of the dead hummingbird and how it relates to my Chiron wound. Taurus is an earth sign known for its grounding and stability, but my Chiron wound in Taurus and the 1st house has sometimes made me feel insecure and ungrounded.

This experience with the hummingbird was a reminder to let go of my old patterns of thought and behavior that no longer serve me and to trust in the transformation that comes with embracing the present moment.
